Thankful Thursday

Dear Lord,
Thank you for your mercy, grace, and patience. I am not deserving of your love but I'm so thankful you have given to me. I pray for wisdom and patience.
Amen.

Make a difference Monday

Make a difference Monday is an important part of my life.  I want to use this series as a way of giving back and as a way of making the world a better place.

Right now, I feel that my world would be better if I was passionate about how I make a living.  There are so many jobs that I am capable of doing but the passion is not there. I will find my dream job someday. In the mean time, I will surround myself with activities I am passionate about. I will continue to write, play piano, take photos, crochet scarves for the needy, read books, travel or dream about travel, bike, run, learn. I will be an active member of toastmasters, COPA, and be a part of my community.

This is what I will do. And when the time is right, the door will open to my dream job.

Dear Lord, please give me the patience to find my dream job and the contentment to enjoy the job I have and the journey to the next opportunity. Amen.

List

Today I wrote an interesting list of things I'd like to do for a paycheck. I got to 100 different ideas, some crazy and some not.

My prayer list includes peace, miracles, patience, and wisdom. I am in need and I know that God will give generously.  My timeframe may be off from God's unfortunately.

Patience

Patience is tough. It is not a virtue found naturally in me. Patience is necessary. In the period of time, when I'm learning to be patient, I am growing too. I forget how to be patient and find its a lesson that needs to be retaught regularly. Patience is good and learning to be patient can bring tasty treats that are the perfect temperature. Patience leaves me with time to contemplate and come up with the perfect response. In the end, patience is good, necessary, and challenging.

Dear Lord, thank you for the challenge of learning patience. Your timing is the right timing and I am learning to remember that nothing is wrong except its not the right time.

Contentment

I am content with what I have. My needs are met. I intend to enjoy what the good spoils in my life.

I've decided to no longer dwell on the past. I used to do that and it was not good for my health.

Accepting what we have with joy is the best attitude. This can reduce stress and increase happiness.

Its not easy but nothing in life ever is. It is worth it because life is too short to dwell on painful events or actions.

Dear Lord, Thank You for Your wisdom and patience. I am learning every day to be pleased with what I have because it all came from You as a gift. Amen.

Prepare for the weekend

There’s a chance I started the weekend last night since I enjoyed a rooftop party with some new friends. It was great talking about Portland, Oregon, public transit, and art. I am very excited to participate in this years Race for the Cure in Bricktown. I’ve been preparing by running most days for the past month.

My planning and preparations won’t end there. I am looking forward to participating in the local art community. I’ve been looking for a grant to present some of my best photos. Hopefully soon, I will add artist to my list of accomplishments.

Finally in honor of reducing stress, I recommend listening to music and doing a mindless relaxing activity. Yesterday was quite stressful and I look forward to my tunes, a good book at lunch, and a nice run after work. Today will be a good day because I decided it. We all have control over our own thoughts. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Dear Lord, Thank you for your wisdom and patience with me as I continue to learn how to honor you in my life. Amen!

One day at a time

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

Matthew 6:34

Sage advice.

There’s no need to get worked up about tomorrow. We need to take care of ourselves today.

Dear Lord, give me the wisdom to follow this advice every day and give me the patience when I get frustrated. Amen.

Dreaming

I’m a dreamer and that usually entails big dreams for an exciting future. I do my best to find a way to make it happen. I don’t stop at dreaming. I get out and get things accomplished.

I am dreaming of my perfect job. The days will feel so short because I enjoyed every part of it. I’ll get excited when I think about this job and on my way to work. I will feel energized and enthusiastic. My creativity will soar to new heights. This is a good future.

Dear Lord, please provide the wisdom, patience, and strength necessary to get to this bright future. I know its coming and at the same time I can get so impatient with what I have today. I am thankful that you have provided this opportunity and I pray doors open to more thrilling opportunities. Amen!

Surprise

Its fun to have surprises! The anticipation builds and the excitement keeps me energized. Excitement is a great stress reducer.

I’ve been through some stressful times and when I had something exciting to look forward to; I was able to find the strength to get through the tough times.

Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom, patience, and strength. Qualities I need to perform well on future activities.

Patience

My greatest challenge most times is having patience. I have decided there’s something that I want and I am not interested in waiting until the timing is right to get it. I want it now. This is partly because of the technology that surrounds me, which often gives me instant gratification. This is also partly due to being a first born. First born in the family does not have much to wait for compared to the younger siblings.

Dear Lord, Thank You for teaching me the valuable lesson of patience. Please give me more strength to make it through to the finish line. Amen!

Pets are good for health

Today’s rating is Positive.

A long time ago, I was having a really bad day and Chomps came over. He curled up in my lap and stayed long enough for me to calm down and feel better. Stroking a furry friend can help elevate your mood. They need you to be comfortable and happy. At the same time, they bring so much joy that it’s not a fair swap. My kitties bring me a lot of love and bed hogging.

I did an interview today and I felt it was too short. In the end, I won’t stop the hunt until I am where I belong. I know this can’t be forced but should feel natural. My time is coming and I am going to continue praying for the patience and wisdom. Thank you Lord for being by my side every day. I need all your love, help, and support! Amen!

Epic Battle with the Economy

Today’s rating is Negative.

I am continuing my struggle with finding a job and with a deadline looming it doesn’t seem as if this feat is possible. The last time I was in the job market, I was hunting for ten hours a day, six days a week. Finding a job is a full-time job and yet I’ve been trying to accomplish this in part-time hours.

I am praying for wisdom, strength, patience, and hope. Its clear that I am not strong enough to do it on my own. I’m not alone with Jesus Christ on my side. I survey my situation and I can see that things won’t work in my timing. So, do I just throw the towel in and wait for God to put the job on a silver platter and deliver it to my door? I think there is a balance between the hunt and the providence of God. I wish I had that balance in my heart, mind, and soul right now. Thank you for your support.

Overwhelmed? Probably so...

Today’s rating is Positive.

My tip for stress relief is to find something green and keep it in your eye sight. Green is a calming color. This could be flowers, bamboo, or a picture of something natural and green.

I may get to move soon but there are a lot of details to figure out. There’s cats, property management, what to keep and what to get rid of. In the midst of all these overwhelming tasks, I am still waiting to hear about the job I interviewed for. I haven’t waited long at all though. I am praying for patience and for things to work out smoothly.

Right now, it is challenging to stay positive.

FI - YAH (FIRE)

Today’s rating is Positive.

Michael Fleming, http://twitter.com/#!/MichaelSFleming was talking about Moses and the burning bush. God showed himself to Moses through fire because fire can be terrifying. Michael was saying that this is a partial description of God. I would agree.

I thought about that most of the day and it made sense to me. God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and everything else. He knows my inner thoughts. He knows my struggles. He knows me at me weakest points. I can hide these ugly things from the world but not from God. That is a very scary thought. In honor of God being represented by fire, I bought a fire log to enjoy tonight, with an open window.

Dear Lord, Give me strength to be vulnerable with those close to me and patience to complete this marathon called life. Amen.
