Beer watch day 3 and evaluation of priorities

The bubbling has slowed significantly but it is still bubbling. The yeast needs a few more days to finish feasting.

Every day I have opened the youversion app and made a photo with the verse for the day. This is today's.

I'm still mulling over my brewery name ideas. Lastly, I'm contemplating my priorities. There's a good chance that I'm trying to do too much.

I work a full time job and I'm usually there 40 hours a week. I probably spend about 45 minutes daily commuting. I get up around 5:30 to hit the gym or earlier for body pump (side eye, why can't the class start at 6?) My free time needs to be reevaluated. I'm trying to accomplish too many things and here is a list: playing piano (I don't practice but I need to), crochet (working on big blanket for the winter), running (half marathons are on the calendar), blogging (writing, journaling, and photos), reading a book (I just started a new book but I won't pick it up enough), brewing beer, learning French for our trip (haven't opened that in weeks.)

The things I waste my free time on include Pinterest, the Simpsons tapped out game, and Instagram. I love hearing pics on Instagram. I can't give it up but maybe I can stop the hearting for awhile. Simpsons is my nightly routine and I'm questioning if I want to give that up. Maybe I'll start small and play only every other night. I've been good with Pinterest and I'm not on it much these days (kinda like Facebook.)

I want to find time for the piano but I'm not sure when. Monday night we have rehearsals (maybe that counts.) Tuesday night is my free night. Wednesday night is church. Thursday night I run. Friday night is date night. Saturday, I run. Sunday, I hang out with my main squeeze. I also haven't practiced because the piano has no permanent home. Another thing to accomplish.

I guess I'm not done reevaluating. I want to stay focused and make a meaningful life. I have to complete that balancing act of wants, needs, and must do's. I plan on writing about my goals soon. Perhaps tomorrow.

Musings

I am not one of those people who eats perfectly healthy 100 % of the time. I am sure there are people who do crazy stuff like that. There is a possibility that I eat healthy 75% of the time.  The diet is thrown out the window Friday night and Saturday night most every weekend.  Then there's the baby cheats.

Baby cheats? you ask.

For example today at lunch I ordered a side salad from Chick-Fil-A. There was a little bit of cheese and I ate it even though I said I was swearing off dairy for now. Earlier in the day, there was a bag of fun size peanut MMs. I ate that too. In the scheme of a day, I would not say the diet was ruined because that was baby cheats.  Baby cheats happen nearly every day. That's where the 75% comes in.

I pondered this while taking Sally Hansen's Salon Effects off my nails. The packaging said regular nail polish but that took an obscene amount of time to remove. I would definitely use it again but next time pay full price and get a color I actually like.

These are my random thoughts for today and nothing was sponsored. Have a good night and day.

Career Advice

I love lists. Lists are so organized. Lists help me stay organized. I thought the best way to organize my thoughts from yesterday's work/life balance seminar by making a list. Please enjoy and please share your own tips for career advice.

1: Slow down and appreciate the diversity around you.
2: Treat others fairly.
3: Learn to pick your battles.
4: Learn how to take feedback but don't get defensive or emotional over it (probably shouldn't cry.)
5: Figure out what you like to do.
6: Figure out what you are willing to do and what you are not willing to do.
7: Make a decision and stick to it (it doesn't matter if its right or wrong because that gets figured out later.)
8: Do your best and take pride in your work.
9: Network with others.
10: Be humble and leave your ego at the door.
11: Try new things. You don't have to be an expert before you take on a new job or task.

Positive Thinking

Today’s rating is Positive.

I haven’t officially counted all of the strategies I use to combat stress but I use a lot of different techniques. I have never used drugs, even during the most depressing and darkest of days. Typically, I stick to natural holistic methods. Today’s tip is to think positively. Its easy to do when life is smooth sailing but needs to be a conscience daily effort.

I am usually a positive, upbeat, friendly person. When things overwhelm me and get me down it is hard to keep thinking positive thoughts. I have read about self-fulfilling prophecies and I’ve learned that what we think will happen usually does. I have been successful with positive thinking because I have good friends. If you find yourself having a difficult time thinking positively, then you should ask a friend for encouragement. It makes all the difference.

FI - YAH (FIRE)

Today’s rating is Positive.

Michael Fleming, http://twitter.com/#!/MichaelSFleming was talking about Moses and the burning bush. God showed himself to Moses through fire because fire can be terrifying. Michael was saying that this is a partial description of God. I would agree.

I thought about that most of the day and it made sense to me. God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and everything else. He knows my inner thoughts. He knows my struggles. He knows me at me weakest points. I can hide these ugly things from the world but not from God. That is a very scary thought. In honor of God being represented by fire, I bought a fire log to enjoy tonight, with an open window.

Dear Lord, Give me strength to be vulnerable with those close to me and patience to complete this marathon called life. Amen.
