Half marathon training and July recap

And so it begins again.
@goldsgym for #halfmarathontraining and I've got my @nike app working again! The trouble today was that it was on an outside #run when I was actually on the #treadmill. I'm still on the 3:1 minute intervals. I had a few extra walks in there but my #injuredankle handled well. Next #run will be on Wednesday in the #oklahoma #heat.  #runner #runnergirl #womenrunning #runnerproblems #injuredrunner #okc #ok #okwb #myoklahoma #runokc #runok #nike #nikerunner #run
Sunday was fun!
Beer.
And grilling.
Last month, I ran 29 miles with is 11 more than June. I may not make my goal of a 1000 miles in 2016 but I've been on top of it for my bible reading goals. #accomplishment

#GOALS

I'm challenging myself to a 7 day list of goals.
1. Complete myfitnesspal entries every day.
2. Blog every day. I do have things to write about. It's all in my head right now.
3. Keep up with my bible reading plan.
4. Register for Global Entry.
5. Work on marketing Ryan Christopher Art every day.
Most all of these goals are something I will need to do every day. Except for the Global Entry. I'm pretty sure that nobody reads my blog anymore since I've renamed it. I'll have to get on that as well.

May recap - Goals

After the doctors appointment, I was told no running for two weeks. Alas, my goal of running 1000 miles seems unreachable with this injury taking too long to heal.
My bible reading goal is on track. I will finish the entire bible by the end of the year.
I've revisited my favorite, whipped cream and ice cream. Halo Top is 60 calories for half a cup and 6 grams of protein. It is awesome!
I'm jumping back on the losing weight bandwagon. I weighed in at 148.6 and I just can't stay there. My clothes are too tight. Fortunately, I'll be starting a new job this month. There will be lots more walking. I also have two weeks of training out of state.
That will probably be a problem for my weight loss goals. I'll weigh in on Friday and I'm shooting for 148.  Progress will be reported m, if not on the blog, definitely on instacrack. Follow me @ esthernorine.

Goals

According to experts, writing goals down increases your chances of success.
I blogged about brewing beer and that turned out ok.
My big crazy goal is to live in the Florida Keys and still travel and see the world. It's very expensive to live there and jobs aren't plentiful but that's what I want.
I can find a way to make my crazy goals happen. Current idea is to move offices with my current company. It's possible and the pay would be there. We'd have to live in Key Largo, the first key. Plans to reach my goal may change but this has been my goal for 10 years. I'm not going to give up.

Successes, goals, and an Ode

This year has been great with many successes although I have not blogged as much as I used to.  I've trained and ran 2 half marathons. I kept my time under 3 hours each time.

I got to spend quality time in the Bahamas. I can't wait to go back!

I rescued a kitten by bringing him to a shelter to find him a home.

I bought us the cutest little house to live in in Oklahoma City. Even the front door greets you when you come over.

Goals for next year will include two half marathons and training for a whole in January 2016. I'm also considering Golds Gym's competition to kick my training into high gear. I managed to gain some weight back and I'll need to lose again. I'm not too concerned about it this time. I know I've got to get my nutrition and training in check and the weight will be back where it needs to be.

Next years vacation will include sandals reunion week at Antigua! Yay! And a week on our private Bahamian island!

Ode to my mug

Oh mug, how I enjoy thy bounty. Full of beer and brimming with excitement for my tastebuds.

Oh mug, how I love your size and my name emblazoned on your side.

Oh mug, how I love to drink from you. My only desire is to fill you with my favorite beer from my favorite brewery. Tis a shame McNellies can't keep Rogue beers on tap.

Updates on half marathon training and goals

Today, I logged a total of 7 miles and it felt awesome. The half marathon is Sunday and I'm ready to rock! The weather is looking positive as well, which is crazy since it snowed Sunday (a week before!)

Yeah that's me this past Sunday. I'm not a fan of cold weather. I'm thinking of doing a post on my neighborhood and actually it could be a series of posts. I'll be adding that to my list of goals. Also on my list is to run a whole marathon next year. I have friends and family in Anchorage and it would be so cool to run the midnight sun run. I just gotta find the time and money for plane tickets. Oh and train for it too. I actually think with proper training, any race is achievable,

My other goals are to get nutrition in check for my training and log my calories into myfitnesspal. One of my friends has actually logged over 600 days, which has inspired me to get to that level as well. So my blogging lacked a lot because of the snow. I'm a claims adjuster and I was oh so busy at the beginning of the week.

Wish me luck for Sunday!

Weight loss Wednesday

Welcome to weight loss Wednesday. I am in a constant battle to lose weight and I have recently learned the battle never ends. It's come to my attention that I have gained 20 pounds in the past 3 (maybe 4) years. How disheartening to know that I successfully lost 20 pounds but let it all come back! My resolve is stronger than previous weeks with this recent revelation. I am returning to my workouts that facilitated the previous weight loss. 45 minutes of elliptical trainer 6 days a week. I'm hoping for a one pound loss this week. My goals are revised to lose 15 pounds and fit into my shorts. I've had two stinking hot summers with too tight shorts (which meant I wasn't wearing them.) this summer will be different. I'm excited to read your posts and am looking for guest posts. Please stay tuned for thankful Thursday!

Weight loss Wednesday

Last Saturday, I weighed in and that pesky pound had crept back. I'd really like to lose 7 pounds but lately I'm going back and forth between 6 & 7. It's getting frustrating! I know that my workouts need to be a little more intense and my nutrition needs to be better. Weight loss has been a very long journey for me. The destination is never found but I keep heading towards my goal.

I know I'm not the only person on this journey. Does anyone have any encouragement or tips to share? The photo is from last weekend's bachelorette party when I ate tons bit didn't eat the cupcake. Yay me!
Its Hump Day!

Green grass

I've always wondered, why is the grass always greener on the other side? I work so hard to get to the other side and then I find a greener pasture just a little further away.

On one hand, I really do want to be happy and satisfied with what I have. On the other hand, I think its good to make goals and reach them. One of my internal struggles is what to do once I've reached the goal. Its all too easy to whiz past the glory and move on to the next goal. I never give myself the credit due because I'm always reaching for the other side.

Celebrate

Whenever you have accomplished a goal, remember to celebrate the success. I forget this sage advice often because I’m always pushing for the next goal. Perhaps, I’ll find more satisfaction when I’ve taken time to congratulate myself.

Success at last

Over the weekend, I accomplished my goals of doing absolutely nothing at the pool for many hours. There were ice cold beverages and I came home sunburnt on my nose and shoulders. It was fabulous.

Tonight, I was successful at cooking Spicy Chinese Chicken Tacos. What a pleasure to try something new and familiar at the same time. Next I will be successful at practicing the piano. I’m memorizing “Beauty and the Beast” from Disney.

Cheers!

Big Plans

It was a big deal getting through a full week of the new job after completing training. I’ve got big plans to do it again. I’m back on the “diet bandwagon” and “running bandwagon” as well. My plan is to focus on my diet to be healthier and lose some weight.

Do you have any big plans for this week, month, or year? Share your thoughts on how you complete your goals!

Progress...not perfection

My current read is “Mind Over Money” by Brad Klontz and Ted Klontz. The best nugget of wisdom I found so far was this: The goal is progress, not perfection. As a first born, I am always striving for perfection. I know that is unreasonable but I still try.

Healthy Choices

Today’s rating is Positive.

I made some healthy choices today. First I spent some time planning with a health coach. I got this service for free from work. I always take whatever is free especially when I need it. After that, I went to the gym and met with a personal trainer. I am excited to see the progress I will get from the extra help.

One of the important issues to watch out for is stress. I read in The 24 Hour Customer that a stressed individual will have a more difficult time making decisions and rely more on the routine function side of the brain. How can we be expected to make healthy choices when we are living with bad habits?

Today, I made some goals. I plan on finding some new friends, find a new job, and get more fit. These are some big goals but I know if I can keep my focus, I will be successful.
