Perfection

My adventure started immediately after work. I quickly changed and got on my bike. I was on a mission to meet with a group of people who bike from pub to pub. Daylight is waning every week, so there wasn’t as much time as the summer. I made it to Joey’s Pizzaria just as most of the group was arriving. I enjoyed a happy hour Bud Light and then enjoyed a Coop Native Amber. Ah...refreshing. Then it was off to the next location, Bossa Nova, where Coop Oktoberfest was on tap. Fabulous! The night was creeping up on me and I hurriedly rushed home since I didn’t have my head lamp with me. Still it was a fun, relaxing, comfortable temperature evening with good conversation and a cardio workout in between places.

Progress...not perfection

My current read is “Mind Over Money” by Brad Klontz and Ted Klontz. The best nugget of wisdom I found so far was this: The goal is progress, not perfection. As a first born, I am always striving for perfection. I know that is unreasonable but I still try.

Long days of hunting for perfection

I am looking high and low for the job that’s right for me. I have a company that is ready to hire me but is it perfect? I do not know for sure until I have looked under every nook and cranny. It feels as though I am procrastinating. It feels frustrating to not hear from people. Today the hunt is not over but I see the end and its not too far away.

First Born Complex

Today’s rating is Negative.

It’s not an all around bad day but I found myself wallowing in self-beating thoughts. I am hyper-sensitive and I see how that makes me miserable. I’m trying to move the focus to where it belongs, on positive thoughts.

First born kids tend to be conscientious and put attention on perfection. This is impossible. Now that I understand this, it is time to loosen up. I don’t feel that today was a success. Thank goodness for a new day and tomorrow is Friday!

Blogging for me

Today’s rating is Positive.

I am blogging to keep myself honest about how I feel. When I look back at 2010, there were not enough positive times in my life. I couldn’t laugh, I was stressed, I had headaches, and I hated just about everything in my life.

I am learning about myself. After reading some books, I can see where I run into problems. I’m a first-born and I’m constantly looking for perfection. I’m hypersensitive to most everything that goes wrong. Add in some loneliness and there’s the recipe for 2010’s misery. Now I can see where I’ve gone wrong. The true test is if I have learned how to get past these innate personality quirks. The test isn’t over yet but so far I am doing good. THANK YOU GOD!
