Red Earth Brewers

As I headed to the Red Earth Brewers club meeting, I seat belted my beer in for safety reasons. When I was pouring it, there was quite the mess.
The current theory is that my pumpkin may have over carbonated the beer with its sugars. Still, the flavor profile was spot on.
We weren't the best at snacks this time but there was plenty of beer to try. Some of it was commercial and some were home crafted. We then had elections for our board. The member at large had 4 candidates.
I can't remember who won, even though I stuck around for the announcement.
I gave this buddy a bottle to enjoy. I also asked about my next plans to brew. I've got cider plans and I wanted to make a lager. The lager will most definitely have to wait, as a fridge is necessary. I'll be making the cider this week because I hope it will be ready in time for a beer festival.
The meeting was great and I look forward to next month!

Hank's Coffee and Wine

In the heart of Midtown is a new coffe bar called Hank's. They haven't officially opened yet but I was able to sneak in for a drink or two.
The logo is cute!
I managed to pick the most expensive glass of wine possible but it was fabulous. The stemware was heavy and not what I expected from a wine bar.
The decor was modern and clean.
They had snacks but we were headed to Waffle Champion's waffle window.
They work with local coffee bean roasters to have special coffees available.
The double espresso was spot on and the owners hired experienced baristas, which sped up the opening process.
This guy is not the owner but he's one of the cool baristas there. Since I'm just down the street, I foresee many coffees and wines in my future. Sorry, I can't remember the cool barista's name. He'll remind me next time I'm there and I'll update the post.

Ryan Christopher Art at Graphite OKC

Graphite OKC is an art gallery in the Plaza District of Oklahoma City. The district is having
Plaza Festival on September 24th.
We were able to secure a couple of walls and hope to sell some of Ryan's art.
It was a lot of work getting everything laid out evenly but the finished product looks great! If you're in the market for some contemporary local art, please come out! Graphite is open Wednesday through Saturday noon to 8pm! If you're not local, you can still check Ryan's art out on his website. Please let me know what you think. I'm always looking for feedback to share with him.

Running

Today was a #kickass #run and I didn't notice my #injuredankle! Note to self, the #brace helps a lot still. We ran #intervals and yes it was #slow. But I'm #thankful that I can still run and #walk. I also found @questnutrition bars at @uptowngroceryco! #yay! #thanks @runhers and @wanderingheartcoach for the #support! #runner #runnergirl #womenrunning #runnerproblems #injuredrunner #okc #ok #okwb #myoklahoma #runokc #runok #nike #nikerunner #run
Breakfast and lunch today. I'm off to practice the piano. I had a difficult conversation with the pastor about my lack of practice. I'm preparing for service that's at the end of the month. He told me no charts! Eek!

Happy Saturday friends! @runhers #thanks for the #water! #runner #runnergirl #womenrunning #runnerproblems #injuredrunner #okc #ok #okwb #myoklahoma #runokc #runok #nike #nikerunner #run
Shout out to Jen at Marathons and Dog Tags! You're the best and I hope we can do a half together some day. 😊

Running and August goals

@grammylicious_ww tagged me for #stopdropandchug which I definitely needed today during and after @redcoyoterunning #packpintrun! My #injuredankle was not cooperating tonight but at two miles I found a good stride. I walked the last mile as a cool down. I'm on my second bottle of #water. I'm #happy with today's #halfmarathontraining #run. #runner #runnergirl #womenrunning #runnerproblems #injuredrunner #okc #ok #okwb #myoklahoma #runokc #runok #nike #nikerunner #run
I made it my goal to not drink any form of alcohol Monday through Thursday. And then on August first, I forgot when I was at The Root working details out for an impromptu show for my hubby. I was beer pressured or peer pressured into a glass. Afterwards, I remembered. D'oh!
I managed to lose 2 pounds on Wednesday. Here's hoping more will follow with this new reduction in alcohol.
August is the start of half marathon training, which means running 4 days a week instead of 3. I'm looking forward to a good season but my ankle is still healing. I'm not sure how well that's going to go. Fingers crossed!

Rogue beer dinner at Republic Gastropub

We came prepared with our Rogue tshirts and I had my Rogue nation card too. (Just in case I was carded but it never happened.) We got a taster of Rogue Dead Guy Ale to start.
The menu, which was family style. I don't like sharing, so that wasn't my favorite. But I guess, sharing is caring.
Amuse was a pub style deviled egg. It was full of mayo, yolk, pickles and probably some mustard. I ate two, which was the allotted amount.
Next was the Beard beer and SriachanStout. The Beard is a wild American ale and I just love the flavor!
Shrimp cocktail.
Pigs in a blanket with Gouda sauce. I hair loved these appetizers and the cocktail sauce paired perfectly with the stout.
Next was the Hazelnut Nectar Brown Ale and the 7 Hop IPA.
Paired with the beef stroganoff...
...and meatloaf. It was a fabulous combination.
Here's how I plated my dinner. Yum and not too much.
Last was the Honey Kolsch and Cold Brew IPA. I love both but the Honey Kolsch has my taste buds. This was dessert, which we wisely split in half.
We all cheered for a great dinner!
Then we home with bags of pint glasses. #awesomesauce

Run streak and whiskey cake!

#runstreak day 4! I #ran #intervals today and it was #awesome! The #pace ended being rather slow but I had a great time running with Robin and Caroline from @runhers! My #injuredankle managed well and I'm going to keep the intervals going. We went 3 miles today and I'll stay there until August because that's when half marathon training will begin. @route66marathon I'll be there!
Last night we went to Whiskey Cake for the first time and definitely enjoyed our meal. I started out with a Sazerac and Blue had a Moscow Mule, which wasn't on the menu but they had no problem making it.
For the appetizer, we split the duck wings. The sauce on the side was a tiny bit too spicy for me. The wings were good and saucy.
I don't remember the name of this drink but there was bourbon, honey, champagne and a drunken cherry to top it off. Oh yeah, I loved that drink!
We split the basic burger and I was happy with the temperature. Most places in OKC love to over do it on burgers. We always ask for medium because we will still end up with a well done burger. I would have preferred fries over the chips but I didn't think to ask.
They had wine on tap! This was one of the Cabernet Sauvignon that they serve.
To top off the night, we had whiskey cake and it was heavenly! The cake was soft, moist and tender. The topping was crunchy walnuts with brown sugar. Eventually, I found the fresh whipped cream. I wanted to just eat that out of the bowl but I suppose that's frowned upon at restaurants. Also, this was an easy uber ride and under $6 both ways. With all those tasty drinks, an uber is a necessity.

Five on Friday

1 - Ryan Christopher Art is still at the Paseo Art Space gallery in Oklahoma City.
2 - I ate Arctic Zero ice cream and it was awesome. Sorry for the repeat.
3 - I ate and drank too muc last night at Red Earth Brewers. Hence, I didn't lose any weight.
4 - On the plus side, I didn't gain any weight. #winning
5 - I'm going to a party tonight. Lord help me find my self control with the food! Seriously, where does it go when there's giant plates to snack on all night? Thank You and Amen Lord!
