Picasso Cafe and Red Earth Brewers

The third week of the month is always busy because of the vegetarian dinner and the beer club meeting.
The dinner was fantastic! The theme was breakfast for dinner.
I love breakfast. It's the best meal and perfectly appropriate at all times.
I got a fabulous run in Wednesday night with Res Coyote too.
And then the Thursday night fun. I started the run early so I could get to the club meeting on time.
Then at the meeting, we discussed the local liquor laws and how people are trying to change them.
Then we discussed the Oklahoma craft beer week. Tapwerks is looking for volunteers to pour beer. What a big responsibility.
I might be interested in pouring. I checked with hubs and he's out. I heard something about how pouring beer is work. The reward is a free entry.
Happy Friday friends! Expo and packet pickup is tonight and the half on Sunday! I'm excited!!

All Saints vegetarian dinner courtesy of Picasso Cafe, OKC

This dinner is hosted by the Chef's at Picasso Cafe every third Tuesday of the month. It's inspired by saints this month in honor of St. Patrick's Day. We opted for the wine pairings as well.
Starting out with a nice wine from California. I love the layout app that Instagram came out with!
This salad was light, refreshing and I got hubby's tomatoes (good for me because I love them and he doesn't.)
Very often the dinner doesn't have any red wines. It must be the dishes the chef makes. It was great to have a pink noir from New Zealand. I like to imagine visiting the winery while I sip.
The succotash was fantastic and I loved those little potato strings. You can guess that those took some time to prep.
Another California Chardonnay, you can see that I took a photo of the description. It was yummy!
This dish was rather difficult to break into. That cabbage did not want to budge with my knife. Inside was a sweet savory combination. I enjoyed it, especially with the wine.
This was a fun Zinfandel from California. I remember it was easy on the palate.
This was the main course. It had a very light sauce and mushrooms with capers. Hubby loves capers and I know he enjoyed the dish. I think he wanted a second helping because he was noshing on chips after we got home. I felt the servings were appropriately sized.
My favorite wine of the night was the bubbly. I have had the taste for divine champagne from France. Now all I want to drink is champagne. I just love bubbles in my drink! This was from Italy.
The dessert was great but I couldn't get my cookie to break. It was chewy, very ultra chewy. The caramel sauce had some chili in it for a little kick. Not too much though.
We enjoyed the dinner immensely, which is why I'm sharing it with you.
Beer watch day 3, the yeast is continuing its job of eating all the sugars. I still have the fun bubbles coming up from the airlock. On the running front, I was able to defer my Bentonville half marathon until next year. Thank goodness! I was looking forward to rolling hills and beautiful scenery. I can't wait!

Route 66 Half Marathon Race Report

We had no issues with packet pickup but as we left, the line was dumb long.
And then picking up the jackets was on the opposite side of the convention center. To make sure you don't miss any of the expo vendors, I'm sure.
They were giving away free beer!
FYI, Atlantis is the bomb.com in the Bahamas. I'll be back, next year.
At 3 pm, I took to the stage for the bloggers forum. The moderator Cheryl asked us all questions and we took about 45 minutes sharing about our blogs. I was on periscope!
That was one of the coolest moments of the weekend!
Then Bart Yasso took a photo of some Runhers girls. I didn't wear my shirt because I wanted to wear the Rolling Stones shirt. I thought that would make me look cool and rock n roll for the forum.
After all that expo fun, I had to get carbed up for the race. I think I did well. I didn't sleep well because I was way too excited for the race. I prepared and trained hard.
It was cold and the hood was necessary as we waited out turn to start. I found lots of shots along the course and I had tons of cheers from my Facebook friends. It was a blast!
This was the best when I stopped the Nike app. I ran my best time ever! The chip time was 2:45:03. That beats my other time by 3 minutes!
I did get lots of compliments on my turkey legs. The jacket is fantastic and fits me perfectly. Next year there will be another jacket. I'm pretty sure I'll run this race again.

Stuff and things

I'm linking up with Kristin at Stuff and Things and Joey at Hodges Podges for the weekly Stuff and Things link up. Yes, I'm late.
I'll be in this bloggers forum on Saturday and I am soooo excited! Here's the link to the full expo schedule: https://rt66run2015.sched.org (just copy and paste).
The half marathon training is going well and I'm confident Sunday will be great. I'm not sure about the weather.
Tonight was a full night of the Pack Pint and the burger/shake.
The it was off to the Red Earth Brewers club meeting where we discussed brewing beer and upcoming events.
Me and the champion of last quarter's competition. My beer didn't win. It was my second attempt. There will be future competitions.
Beth made cupcakes.
Don't forget, I brew my beer in small batches and bottle it in pink bottles. Apparently people don't like the donut beers from Rogue. I do, especially the maple bacon donut ale.
I've turned down cupcakes twice this week. Winning! My weight loss has plateaued and turned into maintenance. I struggle with that though because I am sure my bmi is on the high side and sometimes I feel like a busted can of biscuits in my clothes.
Now is not the time to lose though. Holiday season is not friendly to dieters. I am thinking of picking one thing, maybe baked goods (maybe) to help battle the bulge. What are you doing to make it through the holidays?
