Speed work
Saturday's 15k in Tulsa was fantastic! I managed to hang with my friend until 7.5 miles. She had us going at a 12 minute mile pace. We forgot about negative splits but we were feeling good.

Half marathon #okcmarathon #r2r
The race was huge with over 25,000 runners! Traffic was a mess and walking to corral D was the hardest part of the race.
Packet pickup was easy though.
There were so many water stations and the people who lived along the course came out with champagne!
Crazy part, the sea of people never ended. All 13.1 miles, we were constantly dodging people.
I was running when I took this, hence the lack of focus. This big guy pointed us in the right direction throughout the race. I called him Zone because it says zonecrew on the leg. I wanted to call him orangey.
There's always that one guy dressed up like captain America with the flag. (Not really but I thought that was funny and crazy.)
The capital was full of flags.
We can always trust zone to tell us where to go.
Mile 6 or 7 was gorilla hill. The hill was not fun but there was a gorilla, bananas to eat and crazy guys in banana costumes.

This finish line was great and there were finisher shirts! The line to the shirts was dumb long but I ran 13.1 miles and I wasn't leaving without that shirt.
Snuck a selfie at the finish. I also got a burger and Oreos. My finish time was lackluster.
My first half was the fastest. I guess I keep getting distracted but I'm happy to have crossed the finish line.
We didn't realize until the end but Celeste put her bib on upside down. We laughed and laughed and I'm still laughing now. I also tripped and almost ate cement. Thank goodness I am quick on my feet.
A celebratory beer was earned and enjoyed, after a 3 mike bike ride. I had to bike back too. So 13.1 miles running and 6 miles biking. I'm a badass.

Running exploits
This past weekend, I ran the Remember The Ten Run in Stillwater. It's about an hour north of Oklahoma City.
Pre-race selfie with the flag. We opted for the 10k, which was the perfect taper run for the memorial half coming up this Sunday.
Sunday's weather is looking good so far!
I look ridiculous in this photo because my arms are not long enough. I swear I don't have a double chin! We were close to my pr, with a finish time of 1:24 (pr is 1:21). I'd like to do a few more 10ks to work on speed but there's not a lot of races that offer that length.
Post race lunch was delicious but I was wishing there was more avocado. Tonight is the veggie dinner at Picasso Cafe! Check my Instagram for photos of each course and each wine.

Race recap and beer brewing update
The race was a large loop around Oklahoma City and I started my app early. Which is probably why, I see 13 miles here. My official time was 2:54:10, which is respectable.

Weigh in Wednesday and Half Marathon Training

This is my second attempt at blogging today. My first attempt was spoiled by my copying and pasting from Facebook. It looked so horrible, I had to just delete it. I'm blogging online to link up with Heather, Ash, and Erin. I usually blog on the trusty iPhone but the blogger app does not allow for any HTML. (Shouldn't that be an option?)
Here I am after the Spirit of Survival, my very first half marathon. I was in good shape. Today, not so much. I have gained those pesky 10 pounds again. This is possibly the fourth time I've had to shed those same pounds, which is rather annoying. I have 79 days until my trip to Sandals and I want to be comfortable in a bikini.
I need to make progress! This will happen with my current half marathon training and the race is before the trip! Tomorrow, I'll be running 5 miles. I have been focusing on nutrition and specifically trying to keep to the recommended ratios on Myfitnesspal: 55% carbohydrates, 30% fat, 15 % protien and net calories of 1290.
Me, before the Route 66 half marathon. I know with all this training for half marathons, the weight and inches will be where I need them. The clothes shouldn't feel so tight. I'll be ready for the beach before I get there. I haven't actually weighed in but I'll get around to the scale later. Is anyone else running the Go Girl half in OKC? Do you want to friend me on Myfitnesspal (username: esthernorine) or the Nike app? Sorry for the old photos and going link crazy but all my photos are on my phone and since I'm on the website, I might as well make my links.

#rt66run #halfmarathon
This is my prerace photo before heading out to Tulsa. I got downtown early and met up with a friend from runhers. It was her first half and my second. We were both very excited!
This was the starting line before everyone lined up. There was tons of confetti at the beginning! The music was blaring and we were waiting our turn. We were in corral D and it took 20 minutes for the first 3 corrals to get started. The weather was excellent! A light wind, tempuratures in the 50s to start and 60s at the finish.
We ran through old nieghborhoods with mansions and older homes. People cheered us the whole way and they had at least 4 bands throughout the course. There were plenty of portopotties and refueling stations. One of the houses was passing out Dixie cups of Coors light, which was awesomely refreshing. I got tons of comments and compliments on my turkey legs headband. Although some people thought it was chicken legs. Very few people remembered that thanksgiving is around the corner.
The night before, I ate at Savastranos and it did not disappoint. The hills in Tulsa slowed me down tremendously and I was not able to pr, which was a bummer. I'm happy to report that I did cross the finish line under the 3 hour mark and 5 seconds behind my friend. I was doing walk/run intervals and she likes to keep running the whole time. We split up at the first mile and I saw her right before the finish line. I sprinted to try and catch up to her and I just wasn't fast enough. I crossed back and forth across the streets so much that I logged more than 13.1 miles.
I'll be taking a break from running and I'm hoping to learn the proper race walking technique. I've always wanted to find an Olympic sport that I could be good at and race walking sounds like fun. Thanks to all my friends for supporting me in my half marathon training! I'll be back at it in January.

Half marathon training
Happy Thursday friends! Today is my running day. I split my mileage into two runs. I just finished 3 miles in 41:38 and I'll do another 3.5 tonight!
Coop Ale sponsors tonights run and they have come out with cans. Before the run starts, everyone checks in and gets a ticket. The ticket is redeemed for a can at the finish. There have been times when I was too slow and they ran out of beer. That problem is now solved. Some people used to get refills but now it's limited to one can a runner. I'm pleased with the change.
I have my final long run Saturday and then it will be time to taper before the race. I can't wait and I'm praying for good weather. This time of year is so unpredictable!
