Weight Loss Wednesday

Welcome to Weight Loss Wednesday where I share my journey towards good health. I wanted to share my newest favorite food: the sweet potatoe.
I recently discovered (this past weekend) how easy it is to cut the sweet potatoe into bite sized pieces and roast it to perfection in about an hour.
Initially, I ate three bites and saved the rest. Then I ate 12 bites and finally I had to finish it off yesterday.

So good and easy.
I am not really a cook but somehow I need to feed myself nutritious foods. Finding easy recipes is my key to good nutrition.
I squirted pam all over the potatoe bites before beginning the roasting process and it was roasted at 400 degrees.

Please remember to friend me on My Fitness Pal so we can encourage each other towards good health.
Stay tuned for Thankful Thursday.

Change is a slow process

Change is a slow and steady process, akin to the speed of a walking turtle. Change is slow and steady.

I keep hoping and expecting that suddenly things will change. Suddenly getting things done will be easy. Doing what I want to do instead of have to do can be a new reality. We are not there yet. Everyday I have a little hope that things will change. Its a very small tiny amount of hope. Sadly, I don't have enough hope to share. I go through rough patches where I can't even see the little hope that is there. The pressure of life gets to be too heavy.

Dear Lord, I am where I am supposed to be. Can you please make life a little easier? I need Your blessing to get a better paying job. On my own, nothing can be accomplished. Please help. Amen.

Disappointment

According to legend, the church down the street from my home had Martin Luther King Jr. apply for the pastoral position. He was declined due to his young age. Another disappointment made another stronger.

I have lost count how many times something has disappointed me greatly. To make the wound sting a little more, others make it sound so easy to deal with. "Like water on a duck's back." The opposite is true. Its a mental challenge and one has to be strong to move past it. I focus my energy and mind on things that don't disappoint like my cats or my family and friends. I also focus my time on positive activities such as writing, reading, biking, and playing the piano.

What was your last disappointment and how did you deal with it?

Slow down to breathe

Today’s rating is positive.

I have a picture of these little cuties at my desk. They remind me to take things easy, to breathe when something starts to overwhelm me, and be thorough in my work. Mistakes happen and I try to reframe it into an opportunity to learn. Learning is an important part of my life. I love to learn new skills, new knowledge, and new facts.

If you ever feel overwhelmed, don’t forget the turtle. In the nursery rhyme, Tortoise and the Hare, the Tortoise won the race. We can win the race called life, as long as we remember to breathe. I hope you can remember this and have a good week.
