Creek Classic in Edmond, Oklahoma

Me after the race.

It was a lovely misty day. The clouds were out and the rain was light (barely noticeable.) I decided to run this race because David from last seasons Biggest Loser was to be there and running too. I did not see my usual running friends but I still saw people that I knew. I looked high and low, before and after the race, yet I did not find David. I saw cameras but David was not there. I will assume he was somewhere because there was a huge crowd.

Random finish line photo.

I was a bit tired and dehydrated. This was just a 5k and I know that's a length that I am comfortable with. The race was well organized and I could tell that people believed in the cause. The race benefits education in Edmond Oklahoma. Two people told me good luck before the race, which had me thinking. I've never quite understood the reasoning behind it.

After the race, I decided that good luck is an appropriate phrase because you never know how the run will go until the end. I managed to break my personal record. (Is the appropriate phrase PR'd? Please tell me. I haven't gotten all the running lingo down yet.)

New Year's Day Blastoff 5k

I went from an 11 minute mile average to 10:40. I actually think that I can keep getting faster and I'm thinking that running a half is more possible. (Although I do plan on some walking to keep up my stamina.) While I was bummed to not see David, I had a good race. Let's all assume that I ran with one of the Biggest Loser contestants. After the race, I enjoyed a pancake breakfast and it hit the spot. Please share with me your fitness routines. I'm always looking for ways to spice things up.

Motiontraxx review and The Biggest Loser

I had plans of running outside in the freezing temps but when upon arrival I found the run was cancelled. I still helped myself to a bagel. Then I went to gym and busted out 4.4 miles in two minute speed intervals. This whole week I've cheated myself out of the really good sweaty workouts except for today. It was great!
Repeated photo. I need to get some more photos.

Today, I listened to my favorite podcast: motiontraxx. The music has a certain bpm and its continuous for the entire 60 minutes. There's a slight break in the middle when DEEKRON THE FITNESS DJ tells you its the halfway point of the mix. I love how the music keeps going and it slowly changes to different sounds but it never stops. There's always something. He has free mixes and premium mixes that don't cost much. He has a bpm of the month club and you'd get a new mix once a month set to your preferred bpm. This music keeps me going on the race course and the treadmill. If you haven't heard of him yet, download a free mix and let the beats take you to the finish line.

I'd like to weigh in on The Biggest Loser controversy. Its so typical that a former athlete would win but honestly I didn't think that Rachel looked unhealthy. She looked like an athlete and she put in the work to win. She deserves congratulations and not comments that she doesn't look healthy. I would expect that she would gain some weight back to be in a more normal BMI range but I'd say kudos to her for doing a good job.
That's it for today's post. Tomorrow, I'm sharing how I stay on top of my favorite blogs.

Thoughtful Thursday

You can do anything you put your mind to. Often we will think, "I can't do this," and it's not true. All the trainers on the Biggest Loser are constantly telling the contestants, " you can do it." A marathon or a half marathon, I can do it. In the case of the book I just finished reading, "think and grow rich," we can have any amount of money we desire. We control our thoughts which will translate into our desires.

A study was done on housekeepers and a hotel and losing weight. (Don't make me find the study, I just read about it and was impressed.) The housekeepers were split into two groups. One group was told that their work was an excellent form of exercise. The other group was told nothing. The housekeepers who thought about how their job was exercise reported losing weight. The other group lost no weight. Interesting, since the work never changed but their mindset did.

All of this is to illustrate an important point. If you put your mind to it, you will lose weight, make lots of money, finish a marathon, or whatever else you want to do. The key is to have a burning desire to accomplish your goal and then do whatever it takes to get there. All people find failure. It's the people who stay positive and get back up that also find success.

I hope this helps you in your journey. I'm working on a funny (I think its funny) story for Saturday.

High Five For Friday

1) Happy Friday friends! There's so much promise in a Friday. Good times.
2) Biggest Loser had a sweet finale.
3) I had no cream cheese and no second bagel on Wednesday. Yay for non-scale victories!
4) We went to the Eric Clapton concert Wednesday and had a great time. He puts on a great show and in true performer fashion, took three bows at the end of the encore. A dedicated and talented entertainer.
5) I went to Pho Lien Hoa with a friend for dinner. I accidentally ordered an authentic bowl full of unrecognizable beef parts. Interesting. I tried some of it but mostly stuck to the yummy noodles. The big con for me was they do not take credit cards but did have a machine next to the register. It's a top rated pho shop on yelp and urban spoon but I won't be back because of the credit card issue.

Please stay tuned for silly Saturday and serious Sunday! Have a beautiful weekend!

Stay strong

Philippians 4:13 " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

It is easy to feel overwhelmed. Our lives are small and insignificant. Thankfully, God gives us the strength to do anything that is before us. We have strength that we didn't know was in us. Another good reminder is on the show "Biggest Loser", where contestants fight for their lives and learn how much strength is in them.

Thank you Lord for Your strength. I need it!

Biggest Loser

My favorite show is on tonight: Biggest Loser. The show inspires me to keep up my weight loss journey. I appreciate all the tips and find that I am encouraged to stay healthy. I have learned there is an important balance between perfect healthy eating and splurges. That's why I've included a photo of ice cream. I have lost over 20 pounds and thankfully have kept it off. The biggest reminder is my wedding ring, which needs to be resized. Yes, my fingers got skinnier.

What inspires you to stay healthy?
