Weigh in Wednesday

Weigh In Wednesday

I'm down to weighing about once a month and I did weigh in yesterday at 140.6. That's high for me but at the same time, my clothes are fitting the same. The scale has me nervous since its at the beginning of the holiday season. In light of this, I am taking a good look at my nutrition by logging it into myfitnesspal. I do think there's some corners I can cut. I think the biggest downfall for me is the weekends. Now that we have our house and we can walk to a bunch of awesome bars, I am drinking too many calories. I'm trying to decide how to better manage that, without quitting of course.

Here's my current training schedule for the next half marathon November 23rd:
Sunday:Rest
Monday:Body Pump and playing the piano (piano practice burns some calories and I like to count it)
Tuesday:Run 4 easy miles in the morning and Yoga at night
Wednesday:Body Pump and playing the piano
Thursday:Run a total of 6 or 7 miles broken up into 2 runs morning and night
Friday:Elliptical for 60 minutes
Saturday:The long run and this week its 8 miles

Sorry for the random photos but I can't stand a post that has no pictures.

Thankful Thursday

I am always trying to focus on the good things and staying positive. That's why this is such an important post. Today, I am thankful for my new temporary schedule at work. It gives me time to take morning classes at my gym and blogging time. It gets so busy at work, that I often don't find the time to blog or read blogs. Blogging is an important part of my life.

The blogging community has given me support and friendships. While I may be slow at getting posts up, because life happens, I am not ready to stop blogging all together. I definitely don't put blogging ahead of family or work either. Its just one other aspect of my life. I do want to thank everyone for the sweet comments yesterday. It encourages me to keep moving forward on my weight loss journey.

So its your turn now. What are you thankful for?

Training schedule

I have officially signed up for the Oklahoma City Memorial half marathon on April 28th. I have a deadline to meet and a long distance to go. I've done 5ks and 10ks before and this will be my first half marathon.

Oklahoma City, downtown with the Devon tower

I've baked up my own training schedule and I'd appreciate any feedback from my friends who have already done a half. I am doing one long walk a week and I've been adding half a mile each week until I reach my training goal of 16 miles. I know the half is 13.1 and my training distance will eventually be longer than that in hopes that the actual race will "feel" easier. I picked 16 because I felt is was a nice round number and just 10.2 miles short of a marathon. If all goes well, I expect to train for a marathon next. During my long walks, I am keeping my speed to a 15 minute mile. I know this is a pace I can keep for a long time. I hope to work on speed later (after 16 miles have been reached) but for now I am focusing on distance. Saturday, I went 10.21 miles and next Sunday, I'll walk 10.5 at least.

Will I be successful? Is this a decent training schedule? I'd love to hear your opinions, especially if you've done a half marathon already. Tomorrow, I'll have another tip for weight loss.
