Oklahoma City Museum of Art

We have a free membership to the museum through my husband's work and it has been awhile since we've visited. We checked out the young artists of China exhibit and it was good. Before this, there were pieces from the Louvre and that was exciting to check out.

The permanent exhibit is from Dale Chihuly and I love his work. It's vibrant and playful. It's almost as if he has created another world from glass. The other permanent exhibits are good but don't need much time to see. We were in and out in about an hour. A nice Sunday afternoon diversion.

This is a display that patrons contributed to. The question was what defines your generation and it was broken up by gen y, gen x, baby boomers and so on. I thought it was interesting to see the different responses. I also learned that the museum offers classes to teach people how to create art through various mediums. There was a glass blowing class that had my interest.

Rogue Brewery Review

With the break in my half marathon training, I'm adding some other topics. I've recently returned from Portland Oregon and I'll be writing about the places I've visited. I'd also like to do some posts on my little neighborhood in Oklahoma City. Finally, I'm hoping to start brewing beer for fun and I think that could be some good blog material.

Rogue is our favorite brewery in Oregon. They grow their own hops and pumpkins for their beers. They have grown a lot over the years and now have distilleries, pubs, farm and the brewery. We were planning to spend the night at their bed and beer but we changed our mind at the last second. They were understanding and didn't charge us any fees for canceling.

We are Rogue nation citizens and got our proper ID cards when we went to lunch. Then we bought beer, vodka, and tshirts. Lunch was delicious!

When you sit down at a table the server immediately brings you a sample of beer. It's such a nice touch and I've not seen another brewery do that. We had to go back for a second lunch before leaving Oregon. I'll finish off with those photos. I would highly recommend you try the following beers: Voodoo Maple Bacon, Moms Hefeweizen, Beard Beer and the Honey Kolsch.

These are all my opinions and my only compensation was not being charged the full room rate when we canceled the morning of our planned stay.

A Review: Wine and Palette in Oklahoma City

I have done quite a few of these paintings, in fact I've lost count. I have had mostly good experiences and some poor service. This company has its own studio but also has events at local restaurants. You get better service at the studio because it's very easy to walk up to the bar when you need a drink and the snacks are provided. At a restaurant, sometimes the service is great and others have been subpar. I hate it when the service is poor because there's always a gratuity. These events will have 20 to 30 people attending. At some places there's not enough staff to get everything.
The artist instructions are good and at the studio, the artist has a microphone, which makes hearing the instructions much easier. The studio accomodates 60 people and it can get loud.
The acrylic paint is easy to work with and mistakes can be wiped off. I enjoy the creative process and I always come home with a masterpiece.
If you live in Oklahoma City, I would recommend this to anyone for a fun night out. I was not compensated in any way. I just finished another painting and thought it would be fun to share with you. If you find this review helpful, please let me know. Final tip, Groupon has deals for Wine and Palette regularly. Its easy to purchase and redeem. In fact, I did it today for my next painting. Also, Groupon did not compensate me.
