Route 66 Half Marathon Race Report

We had no issues with packet pickup but as we left, the line was dumb long.
And then picking up the jackets was on the opposite side of the convention center. To make sure you don't miss any of the expo vendors, I'm sure.
They were giving away free beer!
FYI, Atlantis is the bomb.com in the Bahamas. I'll be back, next year.
At 3 pm, I took to the stage for the bloggers forum. The moderator Cheryl asked us all questions and we took about 45 minutes sharing about our blogs. I was on periscope!
That was one of the coolest moments of the weekend!
Then Bart Yasso took a photo of some Runhers girls. I didn't wear my shirt because I wanted to wear the Rolling Stones shirt. I thought that would make me look cool and rock n roll for the forum.
After all that expo fun, I had to get carbed up for the race. I think I did well. I didn't sleep well because I was way too excited for the race. I prepared and trained hard.
It was cold and the hood was necessary as we waited out turn to start. I found lots of shots along the course and I had tons of cheers from my Facebook friends. It was a blast!
This was the best when I stopped the Nike app. I ran my best time ever! The chip time was 2:45:03. That beats my other time by 3 minutes!
I did get lots of compliments on my turkey legs. The jacket is fantastic and fits me perfectly. Next year there will be another jacket. I'm pretty sure I'll run this race again.

Half marathon training update

My Last night I ate Argentinian pizza and empanadas to prepare for today's long run.
Heaven in my mouth!
My Argentinian friends are big fans of cheese. I am too.
I was worried about blisters from Thursday's running. I had blisters on both heals. I made it to the end but realized that the blisters hasn't healed all the way.
I still had a funny smile on my face. I may have lost a toenail on my right foot. That toe is unfortunately swollen and leaking. You're welcome for not showing that to you.
The half is on October 4th. I'll probably have to run in an older pair because of this toe situation. That's why old shoes stick around. My body heals quickly but I am concerned.
A 12:41 pace and 11 miles in 2 hours and 19 minutes. I think that would put me at a sub 3 hour half but not 2:30. I will be a happy camper once I've crossed the finish line.
After the half, I plan on walking a 5k for active recovery and for beer. It's called runtoberfest and its sponsored by Red Coyote. I may regret this decision on Sunday October 4th.
Chomps is distracting me so I better wrap this up. Tomorrow I'll be brewing beer. Maybe blogging too. We shall see how the weekend shakes out.

Birthday happenings

Monday
Sunday, we bought furniture. Sadly this was where the piano was meant to be but this sweet 1900s library table would not fit anywhere else.
I call this a pirates chest but it actually is from the Victorian era.
The lounge is nearly complete with that glass door bookcase, which holds the liquor, crystal and books.
Monday, I went to lunch with my team and got the sombrero and mangos with my sopapilla. Yum! Monday was my actual birthday and that pin on my shirt says just that.
I enjoyed a leisurely 10 mile bike ride with my friend and good food after.
I went a little nuts and had two beers. I love pizza! It's the best food ever! Next up is a party on Saturday but the house isn't cleaned yet. I'll have to get on that. I just don't know when.

Oklahoma Craft Beer Week

The Red Earth Brewers hosted a craft beer forum in honor of Oklahoma Craft Beer week. The finale of this week will be at TapWerks for the Oklahoma Craft Beer festival. I'm praying for good weather.
The forum was held at DC on Film Row in downtown Oklahoma City. It was a little bit of a walk but we managed to get there and have a afternoon.
The cups were really cute. I love a good beer cup. The weather was questionable so it was risky walking there and back. In the end we had no issues. At the time we were in a tornado watch. It's a crazy time of year in Oklahoma.
Blue is not one to smile for my photos.
All the beers were home brewed in Oklahoma and I enjoyed what I tasted. There was so much beer that I didn't taste it all. It was a relatively small and laid back event.
Before heading home, we walked to Sauced for a little patio and pizza and another beer. At that point we had walked around 5 miles and I thought the pizza was earned and delicious. We discovered today that Sauced has a basement, which is good to know this time of year. I needed to know where a shelter is at and its 2 blocks away.
The next post will be my new training schedule. There will be a post on the craft beer festival too.

Stuff and things

++I'm late in posting and linking with Joey and Kristin. Or I'm early for this week. Whichever. I wasn't very motivated last week.
++It snowed, which wreaked havoc in my life. I couldn't run outside! It's only three weeks until the race and my long run was over two weeks ago and it was only 8 miles! I'm psyching myself out. I can totally run a half marathon. I've done two.
++You deserve a good post on the Red Coyote Pack Pint Runs, which will happen when the creative juices are flowing. And that is not today.
++Even without my long run, I still ate pizza. It was glorious. (As all pizza is.)
++I drank some good drinks this weekend. Last week, I maintained my weight. If I don't lose any this week, I'll blame this delicious concoction.
++Some kitties were very cold tonight. This is their finest hour. They aren't talking. If you don't believe how much these guys can talk, just hit up youtube with "talking bengals". You're welcome.

Weigh in Thursday - Half Marathon training update

I am late to the weigh in wednesday crowd but I still want in! I'm linking up with Erin at She's A Big Star, Ashley at Ash's Right Direction, and Heather at Pretty Strong Medicine.

Not sure if that is visible or not but I did lose 2.2 pounds since my last weigh in of over a month ago! I'll take that loss as a win! The half marathon is moving along smoothly and today I ran 5 miles in the morning. And at lunch, I stuffed myself on BBQ meat, BBQ sauce, and the berry cobbler. The win here is that I didn't eat any of the other sides (holla at ya mac and cheese, I missed ya!). It was tough but it wasn't that bad.

Just a little reminder to myself, that it is only 71 days until I head off to Sandals Reunion week and Antigua. I can't wait! And I was over the moon excited when my bloggy bff, Kristin at Kristin's kNook took my suggestion and tried a pizza place in Denver. I'm sorry the service wasn't there but the crust is delicious right? You have to go to her blog to check out her pics. Its been too long since I've been in Denver.

Finally, the Go Girl half marathon is before my Antigua trip and I'm logging more miles. Saturday will be 7 miles and the ramping up will continue until March 22nd. Woot! Woot!
Linking also with Kristin at Kristin's kNook and Joey at Hodges Podges for Stuff and things.
