Running and weekending

Started #Sunday with a #kickass #run! I couldn't find my ankle brace so I #ran without it, which felt fine. A little slow on the pace but I went up and down through heritage hills. #runner #runnergirl #womenrunning #runnerproblems #injuredrunner #okc #ok #okwb #myoklahoma #runokc #runok #nike #nikerunner #run
We went to The Wedge in Deep Duece after a bunch of beers at Tapwerks yesterday. It was a good decision and there were leftovers. The best!
Dead Guy Ale is back in Oklahoma City! We had it at The Root and at Tapwerks! The beer distributor gave us a t-shirt too, which was super cool.
Ryan's art is up at The Root this month and next month, we'll have it at another gallery. If you haven't gotten his book, you should! It's called "A Man Between Sunset and Wisteria" and it's an adventure/mystery/love book.

Running and August goals

@grammylicious_ww tagged me for #stopdropandchug which I definitely needed today during and after @redcoyoterunning #packpintrun! My #injuredankle was not cooperating tonight but at two miles I found a good stride. I walked the last mile as a cool down. I'm on my second bottle of #water. I'm #happy with today's #halfmarathontraining #run. #runner #runnergirl #womenrunning #runnerproblems #injuredrunner #okc #ok #okwb #myoklahoma #runokc #runok #nike #nikerunner #run
I made it my goal to not drink any form of alcohol Monday through Thursday. And then on August first, I forgot when I was at The Root working details out for an impromptu show for my hubby. I was beer pressured or peer pressured into a glass. Afterwards, I remembered. D'oh!
I managed to lose 2 pounds on Wednesday. Here's hoping more will follow with this new reduction in alcohol.
August is the start of half marathon training, which means running 4 days a week instead of 3. I'm looking forward to a good season but my ankle is still healing. I'm not sure how well that's going to go. Fingers crossed!

Running streak and Red Earth Brewers Club

Day 3 of a 4 day #runningstreak has me all giddy because #morningruns are the best in the #summer! #temps were reasonable. Also, I tried a new trick with my #injuredankle. I put on my sock #brace and taped it to my sock to keep it from rolling up inside my #shoe and it worked like a charm. My #ankle is healing and doesn't need the giant #brace anymore. #hallelujah! #pace - @nikerunning said 13 minute miles and @mrmapmyrun said 12:21. I like #mapmyrun today but usually I like #Nike because it pauses automatically for lights. I killed that #heritagehill on my #run! #woohoo! #runner #runnergirl #injuredrunner #runnerproblems #run #womenrunning #runhers #nikerunning #runokc #runok #okc #ok #okwb #myoklahoma #running #workingout #kickingbutt #kickass
I made it to #redearthbrewers #club meeting. It's pretty crowded and tons of #beer. The #snack #game was top notch too because we are at @pittypatcater! #craftbeer #gyo #diy #craftnotcrap #instabeer #okc #ok #okwb #myoklahoma #instadrink #esthereats #food #foodie

Girls night out at Red Coyote

@redcoyoterunning knows how to do #girlsnightout #right! #wine 🍷✔️ #chocolate 🍫✔️ and #discounts on #running #gear. 💣.com! I got a #tanktop and #superfeet. I also bought a raffle ticket for Emily who is running around the world, which looks ambitious!

Running update

I #ran 2 #miles today in an attempt to start a #runningstreak. I'm not sure my #injuredankle is up for the #challenge. I had the brace on and that helped! #runner #runnergirl #running #runnerproblems #injuredrunner #nikerunning #womenrunners #womenrunning #spraneisapain #okc #ok #okwb #myoklahoma

Ankle update

I ran 3 miles and then went in for the MRI. The tech said the photos came out great. The machine was giant and made all kinds of loud sounds.
Wednesday, I tried to run but wasn't feeling it and walked.
Thursday, I slept in. It was glorious! Then I went to see the doctor for my MRI results. There's nothing wrong with my ankle! Well, besides the sprain. That's still there. He said he could see that clearly. There was nothing floating around causing problems. He determined that I will heal eventually but the running has slowed that significantly. His recommendation was to stop running for two weeks. Then slowly ramp back up, depending on how my ankle feels.
So Thursday night, I went for a walk. I'll walk tomorrow too. The doctor said that the elliptical is good too. No pounding pavement for me until my ankle is healed. So, this is good news. I'm going to do my best to heal. Send positive thoughts my way please. Happy Friday!

Randoms

I am getting my hair freshened up. I love blonde hair and my natural color refuses to be blonde.
I ran in the heat this morning and managed a slow 13 minute mile. Then I went to get the MRI on my ankle.
That was really weird and loud. The tech said the pictures were good for the doctor. I'll find out Thursday what is in my ankle.
This snack was fabulous. #cheese makes the world go round.

Things Thursday

I got police reports and went out to lunch.
This pizza has avocado on it. It's from Pizza 23 on 23rd Street in OKC.
Then I ran 3 miles at a decent pace to get to a baseball game. It rained the entire run and when we were done, we froze to death. Which explains why there are no more photos.
Ryan is getting excited for his show and made this Instagram. Off to bed, for my early body pump wake up call.

Goals revisited and a catamaran

My goal is to run 1000 miles this year. I'm completely off track from that, only logging 41 miles. Fortunately, I'm feeling some healing in my ankle. Yesterday's 3 mile run felt great!
My other goal is to read the bible every day. I'm very successful here. While I may have skipped a day, I was able to catch up with no problem.
Every trip has a funny story or two. This story involved me and a catamaran. Our room came with a free catamaran dinner snorkel cruise with Cool Runnings II. The first spot had sea turtles and the boat crew was feeding the turtles to keep them around. As we headed back to the boat, Ryan got up with no problem. I was right behind him but had a hard time getting my flippers off.
I slowly floated away from the ladder. Ryan had to climb back down and he asked me if I was doing ok. I nodded but I got closer the the boat edge. Too close. I flipped out and around, pushing my feet on the boat to propell myself back to the ladder. Someone had to pull me closer to the ladder as well. Then I got my flippers off and went up the ladder.
We joked about that for the rest of the trip. Who am I kidding? We are still laughing about it.

Tent saga

We ordered a tent from REI and we forgot to use our coupon code that would save us $80. We called customer service but they wouldn't apply the coupon, so we ordered a second tent with the code. Our thought was we'd be able to easily return the other tent. When it arrived, we found there was no free shipping return label. So, we drove 3 hours to the closest REI, returned the tent with no problems and shopped. I have a new dress, backpack, water bottle and waterproof case for my phone. Then we drove 3 hours back home. It is a mansion of a tent with two bedrooms and a porch. I can't wait to camp! There's no picture because we haven't set it up yet.
I ran 3 miles today with my running buddy, Brittany. We realized that we are both registered for the Route 66 half. We will train together and probably run together. It's a very hilly course but it's fun with tons of support.
This was the view from our room. This winding river pool is lots of fun to cruise around in. There's no bar but we had beer in our room. We just grabbed a few of those and had a good time.
Cheers to Saturday! #amiright?

Happy Friday!

I'm taking a cue from Kristin at Stuff and Things. I've diligently been reading her blog since 2012. It doesn't seem that long though.
Daily life can be interesting and she challenged herself to blog everyday in May. I was in Barbados when that started (at least I was in my mind! We got there May 3rd!)
I agree daily life should be documented. But I'm also wanting to fully recap my trip. So I've been combining things.
Last night I ran and walked 3.5 miles, which was great. Good weather and good tunes. Next time, I'll hang out with friends to chat.
I wanted to document all the yummy food from my trip! The sushi place had a cool chef from the Philippines named Gilbert. He made special sushi that was spicy for hubs.
We went there multiple times and his sushi was the perfect night snack. Thanks Gilbert!

March recap and ankle update

It's hard to read but I made it to 38 miles and a lot of that was walking. I reinjured my ankle March 4 at the stupid Glo Run and then ran 7 miles the following morning.
This resulted in a swollen ankle. I finally went to the doctor and confirmed that nothing is broken. Thanks to Lori for telling me to check out the doctor.
He recommended physical therapy and the therapist taped my ankle.
My first run back last night was a success! Now I have my exercises and a plan to strengthen the muscles around the ligaments.
Apparently, ligaments don't snap back to regular length. It's weird because the ankle is tight but the ligaments are loose and the muscles are not strong.
Bible reading goal: I've been on top of it! I forgot a couple of weekends but I got back on it!
