Mount Gay Rum Distillery

I had a fantastic time touring the distillery. It was established in 1703 which is crazy old!
There was old equipment, and photos and a video.
In this building, 10,000 bottles of rum gets bottled daily. All of the rum comes from Barbados. There is no other facility that does it. That's pretty cool!
There was plenty of rum as well.
There was no shortage of rum.
We had tons of fun drinking rum ad shopping.
We bought more rum, a magnet and a tshirt for me.
The bar was well equipped with friendly bartenders, rum concoctions and water.
The taxi driver had another trip to get to and we seriously needed lunch. So we bought two more drinks to go because that's allowed on vacation.

Goals revisited and a catamaran

My goal is to run 1000 miles this year. I'm completely off track from that, only logging 41 miles. Fortunately, I'm feeling some healing in my ankle. Yesterday's 3 mile run felt great!
My other goal is to read the bible every day. I'm very successful here. While I may have skipped a day, I was able to catch up with no problem.
Every trip has a funny story or two. This story involved me and a catamaran. Our room came with a free catamaran dinner snorkel cruise with Cool Runnings II. The first spot had sea turtles and the boat crew was feeding the turtles to keep them around. As we headed back to the boat, Ryan got up with no problem. I was right behind him but had a hard time getting my flippers off.
I slowly floated away from the ladder. Ryan had to climb back down and he asked me if I was doing ok. I nodded but I got closer the the boat edge. Too close. I flipped out and around, pushing my feet on the boat to propell myself back to the ladder. Someone had to pull me closer to the ladder as well. Then I got my flippers off and went up the ladder.
We joked about that for the rest of the trip. Who am I kidding? We are still laughing about it.

Happy Friday!

I'm taking a cue from Kristin at Stuff and Things. I've diligently been reading her blog since 2012. It doesn't seem that long though.
Daily life can be interesting and she challenged herself to blog everyday in May. I was in Barbados when that started (at least I was in my mind! We got there May 3rd!)
I agree daily life should be documented. But I'm also wanting to fully recap my trip. So I've been combining things.
Last night I ran and walked 3.5 miles, which was great. Good weather and good tunes. Next time, I'll hang out with friends to chat.
I wanted to document all the yummy food from my trip! The sushi place had a cool chef from the Philippines named Gilbert. He made special sushi that was spicy for hubs.
We went there multiple times and his sushi was the perfect night snack. Thanks Gilbert!

Daily life and Sandals Barbados

It's rough getting up at 3am to leave Barbados. Then getting home, I thought about skipping the routine and the gym. I almost talked myself out of it but I rallied and made it to the gym anyways.
I wanted to share my room with you. It was an awesome room!
The porch came with a soaking tub which was fantastic! The first time we put water in that was too hot. The second time, we used lukewarm water which was better.
He view was rediculous and this photo looks fake but it's not! That pool was a sweet winding river around the rooms. Everyone could use it.
The shower was awesome with two heads, a rain head and a regular. There was also a painting that moved to reveal a window into the shower. So sexy! Also, I won the Yahtzee tournament.

Sandals Barbados

This trip brought us to the silver sandals and the complimentary couples massage. The massage was amazing!
The food was also amazing! Everything was fresh and prepared well. There were tons of Brits at the resort and the island. Barbados is celebrating 50 years of independence this year but there are definitely strong ties to the UK.
We did a snorkel dinner cruise with Cool Runnings II and they did a great job.
I have so many photos and stories to share and I'm planning to do that on my blog this week.
First though, I have a long list of people I want to thank for the wonderful and welcoming service they provided.
Shonnell
Dario
Dale
DJ Shaqmed
Marlon
Denis
Nicholas
Stephen
Nathaniel
Jamaine
Joy-ann
Mario
Gilbert
Markus
Most of these people were bartenders but the entertainment team and loyalty desk did a fantastic job.
